• EESSI Hackathon, Dublin

EESSI Hackathon, Dublin Date & Time: August 17 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm On Friday 25 September 2026 (09:30-16:30 local time, UTC+1), an EESSI hackathon will be organised in the wake of the EuroHPC User Days which takes place 22-24 September 2026 in Dublin. Provided by EuroHPC CoE MultiXscale in collaboration with the EuroHPC Federation Platform. The hackathon will be general in nature, but centred primarily on the needs of in-person participants. A detailed program will be added after initial registrations have taken place and discussions with those registrants. An expected general outline of the program is: What is EESSI? How do I build my own software on top? How do I tweak EESSI for my site? How do I contribute to it? Ample time will be provided for participants to follow prepared examples (where they are feasible). The session will be recorded. Recordings, slides, and materials used will be made publicly available shortly after the event via this page. VENUE The event will take place at Trinity College Dublin, in the Lloyd Institute building. ONLINE Online participation is available via Zoom (practical information to join will be shared only with registered participants). REGISTRATION Both in person and online attendance is free of charge, but registration is required. Register via https://event.ugent.be/registration/eessi202609

  • MultiXscale workshop on energy materials and sustainability

National Institute of Chemistry Hajdrihova 19, Ljubljana, Slovenia

MultiXscale workshop on energy materials and sustainability Date & Time: November 19 @ 3:00 pm - November 20 @ 5:00 pm Website: https://www.cecam.org/workshop-details/multixscale-workshop-on-energy-materials-and-sustainability-1572 Energy storage materials (e.g., batteries and supercapacitors) play a pivotal role in modern energy systems by enabling the reliable use of energy and supporting the electrification of transportation. Their properties determine the performance, safety, cost, lifetime, and environmental impact. Designing and optimizing these materials requires a multiscale approach that bridges phenomena occurring across different length and time scales, from electrode materials to system-level performance. At the same time, the increasing complexity of modern energy storage systems and their underlying dynamics calls for greater computational power, making supercomputers an essential tool to perform simulations of such systems. To address these challenges, this workshop focuses on the energy storage materials and explores how multiscale modelling and experiments can be leveraged to advance their development and optimisation. To overcome the burden of building and porting scientific software to various system architectures, including the installation of packages and the management of complex dependencies, the workshop offers an optional parallel hands-on experience on using the European Environment for Scientific Software Installations (EESSI). EESSI is a shared software stack of scientific software installations that runs on various machines and in the cloud. It supports numerous CPU and GPU targets, while providing domain scientists with a uniform experience regardless of the system they are using. The workshop will be complemented with a guided tour of the Center for Development, Demonstration and Training for Carbon-Free Technologies. The center’s is built on cutting-edge research infrastructure in the field of battery and hydrogen technology development.
